While living in Madrid, Tim married Giselle Elvira Correa. In 1972 he entered the Foreign Service, posted first to Paris, France.  His first daughter Mayra was born in Madrid in 1973. His second daughter, Vanessa, was born in 1974.

Tim had a very successful career as a Foreign Service officer, with posts to Ankara, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Madrid.

He was a devoted husband and an exceptional father, a charismatic and caring man who made friends everywhere he went while touching many people's lives.
