Ralph DeFronzo ’64 speaks on diabetes and obesity

January 19, 2026

Classmates and friends:

The next Class of 1964 Zoom event will occur on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00pm - 5:30pm eastern time. It will feature one of our most distinguished classmates, Ralph DeFronzo, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Texas Medical School. It’s no exaggeration to say that Ralph is a giant in the area of diabetes medicine. He is directly responsible for many seminal advances achieved in diabetes over the last 50 years and has discovered or developed several medications for treating the disease.

The title of his program will beĀ  "Treatment of Diabetes and Obesity: From Food Addiction to Drug Addiction."

The moderator of the program will be Ralph’s Trumbull roommate and fellow physician, Frank Franklin.

This program should be of great interest to many of us whose lives have been affected by diabetes, as well as to many of Ralph’s classmate friends.

Registration for the event is required. Classmate spouses and partners are welcome to attend. Register for the event by clicking on the following link:
