Pat Caviness ’64 and Frederique sponsor art barrels on Koh Samui

February 4, 2020

Note from Tony Lavely, ’64 Class Secretary:

As if the island of Koh Samui off the east coast of Thailand weren’t beautiful enough, Pat Caviness and Frederique Deleage are sponsoring the creation of original art for trash bins on the beach. The beauty of the artwork actually encourages people to dispose of their trash responsibly.

Frederique emailed and posted: “What we do is part of the ‘Trash Hero’ movement.  It is a nonprofit organization. We are painting these bins for resorts around the island. The bins are put on the beaches to incentivize resorts and people to throw their rubbish in. The resorts manage these bins and encourage people to keep our Samui beaches clean.  I’m sharing with you my Art Bin Album with a link to the work these amazing volunteers did this year. The principal artist is Donna Reis who started this group. She is a very talented and creative artist on Koh Samui. I even tried my own hand at creating some “bulldog images!”
