Neil Hoffmann ’64 says “This is what I want for my 80th birthday”

March 29, 2022

The Yale Class of 1964 has shown its charity over the years with donations to Yale and many other worthwhile organizations around the world. In the spirit of our cohort’s 80th birthdays, Neil Hoffmann showed his support for the children of Ukraine by making a gift to UNICEF in the name of the “Yale Class of 1964.”

Neil explained to the Boston Zoom group: “What I have done as a Class of '64 member is to make a contribution to UNICEF for their work for the children of Ukraine. Very easy with PayPal.”

Other classmates have already joined with their own donations. Jerry Flannelly responded: “A Class of ’64 80th Birthday Gift Fund for Ukraine is a great idea, Neil. I would be happy to contribute to such a fund if you or someone else can organize it.”

Chris Getman added this to his own group of friends: “I’m hoping that you’ll follow through with this proposal from my classmate Neil Hoffmann. The world is in chaos right now, and the prospect of an escalation, given Putin’s instability, is very real and frightening. Innocent children are being killed and disrupted, and this is a real opportunity for us to be of help through a reputable organization. I hope that you’ll join me in this effort and forward this to others whom you think might be willing to help.”
