The Martha's Vineyard Museum is a wonderful island institution that over about 20 years has raised funds to renovate a historic marine hospital and create a museum with exhibits that in my estimation match those of the Smithsonian in Washington but focus entirely on the history of this island. Robert H Kuehn Jr., class of 1964, devoted his life to historic preservation and the creation of affordable housing. I'm honored to be able to say that he was one of my best friends. He also set up a foundation to support this kind of good work. Here is a recent announcement from the museum:

Robert H. Kuehn, Jr.

Martha’s Vineyard Museum is proud to announce that the 1895 Marine Hospital restoration project has been selected as a 2020 Robert H. Kuehn, Jr. award winner by Preservation Massachusetts. The award recognizes “extraordinary projects that meld collaborative partnerships with creative and cutting-edge ideas for the rehabilitation and active reuse of historic buildings.” We congratulate our friends at Oudens-Ello Architecture who tirelessly led the restoration and renovation efforts through design and construction for many years and thank the many people in the Island community and beyond who believed in and supported a dream for both the Museum and this historic property.
