Tony Lavely ’64 meets Architecture Dean Deborah Berke

February 10, 2020

Report from Tony Lavely, ’64 Class Secretary:

At the Yale Alumni Fund Board meeting at The Yale Club of New York City on February 10, 2020, I had the opportunity to meet Dean Deborah Berke of the Yale School of Architecture. She has been Dean since 2016 and gave a very uplifting presentation about the current student body at the School and the work they are doing.

In the Q&A session, a number of YAF Board members addressed concerns about the cancellation of the History of Art course that was in the news. (This was also a topic of heated conversation at the Class Council meeting.) Coincidentally, the event gave me the opportunity to see the recently hung portrait of Judge Sonia Sotomayor over the stairs leading up to the main lounge.
