Tony Lee ’64 and Neil Hoffman ’64 circulate papers on climate crisis

January 28, 2020

Note from Tony Lavely, ’64 Class Secretary:  In recent months, there has been a heightened call for more focus and action on the climate crisis from many classmates.  I’m posting two here.

Tony Lee circulated a white paper titled “World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency.” Tony wrote:

Attached is the “World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency” from BioScience dated November 5, 2019. The climate crisis has arrived and is accelerating faster than most scientists expected. This warning was signed by more than 11,000 scientists and calls for bold vital global changes.

Neil Hoffmann sent an article from Architect Newswire and wrote:

I am impressed with the level of information the profession is getting about climate change and reaching for carbon-neutral design. The climate change articles in the Yale Alumni Magazine are also informative, particularly the one about CA. It's nice to know the scope of Yale's efforts but the goal of carbon neutral by 2050, doesn't really cut it. Yale's opaque ownership of fossil fuel stocks seems hypocritical at best.
