Paul Manchester ’64 “Just when I thought I was out ...”

I worked on the Hill for the Joint Economic Committee from 1978 until 1989. Since then I have been in the Executive Branch, mostly at HUD but currently at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, from which I will retire in a few weeks. However, I want to continue to stay somewhat involved in policy matters, so I asked a friend who works for Senator Cortez Masto if they could use any consulting services. My friend said she would like me to work directly with her on matters before the Senate Banking Committee, but they don't have any budget for such a purpose, and I will be receiving an attractive annuity in any case. So I am going to be an unpaid intern on Capitol Hill! I'll probably be the oldest intern in history, since most are about one-third my age. But my friend said, "Interns can be of any age," so we'll see how this works out!
