Jon McBride ’64 sends energetic update on Squash Haven

May 6, 2022

Like other organizations/activities at Yale, Squash Haven had their program compromised during the pandemic. Well, they’re back! Jon McBride, our Class liaison to Squash Haven reported that the coaching and competition side of the program had a very active season, and the college counseling and placement side produced great results. The Class of 1964 can be proud of its multiyear contributions to this organization.

For the second time in recent years, one of the “graduates” of the Squash Haven program was accepted at Yale, and he will matriculate with the Class of 2026 in the fall. Congratulations to Jayden Rivera!

Even at the younger levels, the results were impressive. Squash Haven posted: “We are SO proud, excited, and overwhelmed with joy to share that Riham, Squash Haven 8th grader, has been accepted to Choate Rosemary Hall! What an INCREDIBLE accomplishment! In our 15-year program history, over 20 students have gained admission to competitive independent schools, but Riham will be our FIRST student to attend Choate! This acceptance is a result of Riham’s drive, work ethic, love for family and community, academic achievements, and leadership!”
