Jim Rogers '64 has daughters more talented than he is

December 2018

Here is a note from Jim Rogers followed by a video and photos of his daughters.

I am continuously astounded by my daughters’ reception in Asia. Hilton was born in 2003 and Bee in 2008.  We have never pushed it, but people keep finding them on the internet. They keep winning Mandarin-speaking contests. If I saw a movie where blue-eyed blondes won Mandarin-speaking contests in Chinese countries, I would walk out at the absurdity of it all, but it keeps happening!

CCTV — the major Chinese network — has invited them to be on several times including one of the New Year’s shows which are huge with the Chinese. They got 35 million hits on China Daily. They have just been invited to a very popular poetry show in Beijing in early January. The younger one just had a small part in “China’s first action blockbuster” Breakout Sky Fire which will be out in July. They filmed an English version and a Chinese version. I used to be a little bit famous in Asia. Now my girls are making me more famous. It is remarkable.

BTW: Some may remember I was vehemently anti-children all my life since kids take a lot of time, energy, money, etc. I felt so sorry for all you who had children. How could you ruin your lives!

Then after my second circumnavigation, my wife Paige said: “Why don’t we have a child”? I had my usual reaction, especially since 60 was too young to settle down. But then I decided I could try it out.

My, my. I was totally wrong all those decades. These girls have taught me things about which I had no clue. I have not cried (usually out of joy) so much in my entire life. It certainly would have been a mistake had I done it earlier, but boy, is it fun now!
