Andy Villalon ’64 adds five books to classmate publications

October 19, 2020

Earlier this month, I received this email from Andy Villalon ’64:

While reading one of the recent Class Notes in the Yale Alumni Magazine, I became aware that the Class of ’64 had compiled an author’s list which I think has now reached 71 +/-.

Since I see among the names on this list several old friends who after our undergraduate years at Yale also went on to get their Ph.D.’s in history at Yale Grad School (I am referring to Eric Middelfort and Tim Breen), I thought I probably should add my name to the list.

As I understand it you only want items published since the millennium. So, I am sending only books that I think fit the criterion. (I have omitted quite a number of articles in journals or collections from that time period.) (BTW, my co-authors/co-editor — alas, not a Yalie — and I have been dubbed by some of our colleagues in Britain as the Nordoff and Hall of Medieval Military History!)

All best,
Andy Villalon

PS. I am a strange case in respect to my Yale class. I started with the class of '65 but went through in three years and so graduated with '64. So, I am probably not known by many in '64.

We have now posted five of Andy’s books on our Class website's Publications page and also featured him on Yale Authors, the private Facebook page. Andy undercounted the number of 1964 classmate authors. We now have 80 authors who have published 198 books since 2000.
