Ted Jones '64 reports on the 2026 fall golf outing

What a delightful day we all had gathering for our Fall outing at the Yale Golf Course to renew friendships of such long standing, enjoy a round of golf, and (what could be better) finish the day with dinner at Mory’s. (Aah, the Baker’s Soup!!).

We were fortunate that the weatherman cooperated and sent a brilliant day: a little cool and refreshing in the low-60s to start but warming up 10+ degrees as we progressed.

Joining the fun were Mike Arons, Larry Capodilupo and partner Deb, John Evans, Bill Galvin, Jim Heyworth, Ted Jones, Dave Lindsay, Dave Kalayjian, Jim Kerr, Steve Norman, Chuck Post, Jan Truebner, and Ward Wickwire.  The competition was intense and the frequency of golf infractions certainly rife with suspect play and scoring, but in the end no one could claim a victory (with apologies to the memory of Getman). But no matter. The course was challenging and a joy to play (notwithstanding the somewhat shoddy physical condition of many of the fairways and greens, about which a New York Times article has been written).

For dinner, two players dropped out but we were joined by Marcia Kalayjian. We gathered initially in the back bar (always a convivial place) where Marie saw to our every desire, and then adjourned to a front room where the cuisine (aah, Baker’s Soup) and conversation were nonpareil.  We are excited to anticipate a return to a better-maintained course in the spring.
